Keep copy of your passport with you.
If driving, keep your driver's license with you.

You can rent a car from car rental agency at Hotel Portofino; taxi fares are reasonable, consider using a taxi - taxi stand is across from the villa.

Portofino Hotel - across from the villa
free public beach; for restaurant and nightly entertainment you have to buy a pass at hotel lobby.
Playa El Agua - 3 min drive or 10 min. walk from villa
Main beach; restaurants;
money exchange (you will need your passport )
Johny's - 5 minutes drive from the villa. Take a taxi.
Good store to buy liquor and dry provisions;
can change money.
Super Market - 10 minutes drive from the villa.
Hotel Hesperia Margarita - 10 minutes beautiful drive from the villa
5 star hotel; golf; bit expensive.
Beautiful sunsets from top of the hill.
Town of
Juan Griego
- 20 minutes drive
Fort ; shopping; beach, also nude beach;
beautiful sunsets; worth a full day visit.
La Restinga Lagoon - Approx 1hour drive.
Consider renting a car or a taxi for the day.
Boat trip, mangrove vegetation in the sea, beach. Ask boatman to drop you at the beach and pick you up later.
Can continue to Macanao desert and more beaches.
Playa Manzanillo - 3 minute drive; 10 minute walk; can take a taxi, arrange with driver for return ride.
Good beach to spend a day, can rent cabana and chairs; restaurant for a meal; serve cold beer etc on the beach.
Playa El Yaque - 1 hour drive; south part of the island past the airport; combine this with your visit to La Restinga Lagoon.
Windsurfing, shallow water beach.
Porlamar - 35 minutes drive; take a bus from village of Manzanillo or take a taxi from hotel Portofino; bus is safe and very cheap - good experience. Porlamar is the main town; good shopping on Ave. Santiago Marino; visit old town, plenty of merchandise.
El Tirano - 10 min. drive from villa.
Fresh fish from fishermen at the playa.
Bakery; cold cuts etc., general provisions, butcher for meat and chicken.
Playa Guayacan - past Playa Manzanillo. Good secluded.
Beautiful sandy beach, beach itself is bit rough.
